The world is canging. And so is the nordic world. Therefore the overall line of Ruska-Camp is The Nordic Change. Changes are happening in many areas. In technology & economy, in politics & geostrategic intentions and in the local & global society. These changes are relevant for everyone.
Climate Change is opening the Northern Passage - the sea route from the Atlantic to the Pacific on the arctic side. This route shortens the distance from Yokohama to Rotterdam by approximately one third - in distance and in time. But this retreat of the ice does not only influences trade, it also makes additional resources available, which were not exploited because of high cost in accessibility. And with the rising demand for resources, conflicts about ownership will arise on the political and geo strategic level.
These three changes on trade, exploration and force are demanding attention and will trigger change. Change, which will create tension in an economical, social and business view. Change and Opportunities in Scandinavia, but also in Europe and in Germany.
Changes will happen as well to the society in Lapland and northern Scandinavia. How to preserve the significant elements of culture and how the existing experience can be used is also a key-task of managing the change.
We would like to anticipate this change - bringing together selected actors from Scandinavia and Germany, from politics, society and business to discuss this change, to identify significant trigger points, to define borders for political shaping and to search for new business opportunities.
Our goal is to define 10 action points to support a safe, mindful and sustainable transformation of the arctic states - relevant for government, society and economics.
It is anticipated that every participant is eage to share his opinion, so every participant is expected to give also an impulse statement.
